Water based barrier coatings reduce or eliminate the flow of  a fluid and provide the packaging paperboard the barrier properties against moisture, oil, gases, grease and bind the coating to substrate to form a continous, non-porous flim that is required for good barrier properties and used to provide an effective moisture barrier and a smooth, flat finish.
